It was the first format specifically designed for digital single lens reflex (SLR) cameras. The micro four thirds (MFT) system is the standard based on the four third system originally developed by Kodak and Olympus. So, with Panasonic and OM Digital Solutions (formerly Olympus) set to launch their new flagship cameras based on the micro four third sensor shortly, let’s examine the system’s strengths, limitations and yes, the hate. Sure, some are more elegant, some do it more efficiently, but the best camera for each photographer is the one that serves their needs for the given situation. This is what happens when you are a lover of cameras and photography and not loyal to any brand or format.Ī camera is a tool used to capture light in a box. It depends on your scene and on your personal taste.“And though she be but little, she is fierce.” –William Shakespeareįull disclosure I’m a camera freak, jumping from brand to brand, going from digital to film, experimenting with different formats. Whether that increased noise (and loss of shadow detail) is worth the highlight retention to you is not something Blackmagic, or anyone else for that matter, can answer. However, changing this curve also increases noise- the camera is not iso invariant. This just means that on shots where there is a lot of the scene much brighter than your subject, and when you want to protect these highlights, you'd theoretically do well to increase the iso (at least until the second gain kicks). What IS your question that Blackmagic needs to answer? All their documentation just states that increasing the iso gives you more stops above middle grey and less below. There's PLENTY to learn, I love learning! At what point did I imply there was nothing to improve or learn? I'm just confused what your question is? That Hook comment is interesting, thanks for sharing! And the Art Adams article is relevant because the underlying principle is, as far as I know, is exactly the same for these cameras.
